Salon Blogs Community Solicitation
Dear Readers,
Over the past couple of weeks, you have probably seen discussion regarding the creation of a Salon Blogs Community, something beyond what currently exists by virtue of us sharing the same space. Some work has already been undertaken in this direction. Of particular note are the efforts of Christian Crumlish at Radio Free Blogistan.
I have been pondering creating a Salon Blogs site that would feature the best work being done here, and playing around with the idea of how to manage this. I[base ']ve worked with a few of the fine writers here, and produced three trial issues which you can find at my long-term site, Virtual Occoquan. Special thanks to the assistance provided by the following Salon folks: David Fox, Daniel Dolinov, The Raven, Rayne, VeryModern, Jan Hoaland, Fiona Afraid, Maxine Locker, and Robert Crook. Your help has been much appreciated.
I would now like to try opening this up to all Salon weblog writers. If you are interested in participating, please send me one of the following: Your favorite posted piece from the previous week, or something that you[base ']ve written, loved, but doesn[base ']t fit your blog.
As I am not sure what response to expect, let me start with the following rules. HTML is preferred, although I will accept anything that I can read and format. Please no embedded pictures unless they are tabled. Please nothing that could be libelous. That[base ']s it.
The new issue will be posted on Saturday 11/9 (my ISP willing) so please send ASAP if interested. Please include your preferred format for copyright notice, and text/format for linkback to your Salon Blog. (See Virtual Occoquan for examples). Also include what name you want to appear under. Posts will be divided into categories, so suggestions for your submission would be appreciated. Let[base ']s see what happens.
