The Fireball that dare speak its name

Any time I end up back at a site I enjoy or admire but don't subscribe to (as when searching for info on running perl from the OS X command line I found myself again at Daring Fireball) these days I try to decide on the spot whether to subscribe. I am adding John Gruber's Mac punditry and curmudgeonry site to my list even though Gruber's perfectionism is very intimidating (not unlike Dean Allen's). For one thing, he publishes his site like a publication and not just like a run-of-the-mill weblog.
