Paris Hilton

Exhibits A: Finding my inner Paris Hilton & B: How to talk to your kids about Paris Hilton & C: In defense of Paris Hilton.

Is Paris Hilton a mirror to the blogosphere? Can we say she has now officially transcended humanity and become a meme?

I prefer the word hype.

I'm not sure I agree about hype. I mean sure there is hype. I find that when events or people begin serving as mirrors for others to examine their own behavior (even tongue in cheek), as in the pieces I linked to, then the hype has become only a component of something bigger.

I don't know if Paris Hilton qualifies as a meme or just a horrible train wreck that's fun to watch in a sick way. As far as the meme goes, she does emulate the evils of too much money, no responsibility, etc. methinks.
