Cussing is okay online
Christopher L. Filkins
Eric Celeste covers the shrinking newspaper market & the little futhermuckers who are causing it. With tv viewership down among the young as well it seems apparent the size of the internet in the total media landscape is accelerating as those who were young when the web explosion get older and bring their younger net obsessed siblings with them.
18-34 is the desired age range for advertisers. If the range was 18-34 back in 1998 when the young began using the net in hordes and having their media landscape effected by the web then today the range must be 23-34 for those not heavily invested in using the web. If this is true then in 2014 the advertising bottom for major media will be reached. If newspapers and tv networks can't make it work on those levels or can't grow their audience differently then we'll see a lot of media bankruptcies and failures by then.
I'm willing to bet both newspaper on demand and tv on demand will have eaten the lunch of existing channels by then. We'll see what happens. It's going to get much worse for tv & newspaper readership before it gets better, that's for sure. A lot worse.
