Anil, Xian can be your San Francisco bloggers guide.

Anil Dash: Moving Forward

So, I'm moving to San Francisco to be even more involved in Six Apart. We're doing all this work with developers and partners because there's still another 99.9% of people in the world who haven't heard what weblogs can do for them. I want to be part of spreading that message, and we're going to need help to do it. I'm also moving because I still honestly believe Six Apart makes the best weblog tools in the world, and we're going to be the the company that brings weblogs to a broad audience. Best of all, I'm glad to have made the decision before all the events of the last week, since nothing confirms a hunch like having it thoroughly tested by circumstance.

I think weblogs have already changed the world a little bit, and that's happened while we're only just getting started. So, thanks to everybody who's supported Six Apart and me, and thanks to everyone in Six Apart for being my motivation to make a public (re)commitment to the company. See you guys at the office.

Can you believe that Anil lives across from me here in East 14th Street and I have never, ever bumped into the man. One reason for this is that I am childful and he is not. The world of childess NYC couples is ages apart from the childful one and the twain shall never meet (unless they make a big freaking deal about it). Another reason is that the man says he's been travelling like there is no tomorrow.

I sooooo hate respecting people's privacy. I had this piece of news since the NYC Bloggers meet. In the back of my mind I thought, "Hmmm, if I were a gossip reporter, this could be some cool piece of information to publish". Since I am not in the business of gossip, I decided to let is slide. In the world of Gawker and Gothamist it is becoming more and more difficult to bite one's tongue. I wonder what kind of publishing standards do other bloggers follow.

Anil, good luck and clear skies in San Francisco. I'm letting Xian know that he needs to buy you a beer in our name. I'll drink a couple over here, from our little piece of NYC heaven on East 14th Street.

Well, remember I live in Oakland... but I do get into the city from time to time.

Hey, there's something weird going on with the headings on this archive page (look at Trackbacks up there... is that happening everywhere? So many templates to fix...)

I know what you mean about gossip, Liza. Several times at the Technorati bash the other night people told me "please don't blog this, but..."

I forgot to mention that I (kinda) met Mitch Kapor. He's very smart, of course. I didn't actually get to introduce myself to him but I stood there with him and Mary Hodder and JD and nodded sagely at his words of wisdom, hoping he'd think I was smart too.

It would be a pleasure to take Anil out for an official RFB welcoming-committee beer or other frosty beverage of his choice.

I've hardly heard about Six Apart but Anil's devotion to the company is really impressive. I understand how important blogs are for many people, and especially for me as I spend most of my time in front of the computer and sometimes only blogging help me to keep up with current events. You guys seem to be deeply involved in Six Apart as well. Where can I learn something about it?

Visio ate my homework: I've been drawing wire frames (also called virtual blueprints) depicting schematically how a number of different page views and portlets and popup windows show look and function for a portal project, and I've been drawing these pictures in Visio. It's an old version of Visio (2000) and I'm running it on... (Book News)
