On the best non-convention moment ever and Edwards' radiance

I was looking forward to a very exhausting non-convention blogging day here in NYC, when I received an invitation to attend the Park Bar at Union Square meeting of Mr. Wonkette. Yes, people, in lieu of meeting the blogstar herself, I was delighted to meet her hot and bothered husband. Wow! That's the closest to blogstardom I'll ever get. I even got to shake his hand.

I made sure though I made it home in time for the Edwards speech ... and then I realized I had missed crazy Al's "let's ride this donkey" speech.

Oh, pooh!

Still, I was impressed with Ms. Edwards --baby got back, indeed. As the camera panned from Cate Edwards to her, the resident couch pundit and I could not but marvel at Ms. Edwards behind. Not because of her rubenesque figure but because she really is styling a ghetto-blasting, "look how fine is mine" behind. Like Britney would say, "it's a southern girl thing".

Man, does she look comfortable in front of a camera or what. Actually, that whole family is just telegenic. I wonder which of the Kerry girls is going to present dad, the one with the boobs or the one that canoodles with Ben Affleck?

That said, Edwards proves how great a vice-president he will be. Edwards radiated. He truly shined tonight :

The Blogging of the President: 2004

There's something more here than dislike at Bush. Indeed, anger at Bush just isn't around. Instead, there's a beginning of a conversation about where to take the party, combined with a hopeful feeling not just that Bush can lose, but that the Democrats can win. It's like the first shoots of spring after a long winter.

Pandagon: Liveblogging Edwards

Edwards, thankfully, is talking about poverty on the national stage. And not in the "get their asses to work" vein of recent years, but as a moral issue. It's such an important conversation and such stunningly correct framing that I'm posting up the whole section: "I mean the very idea that in a country of our wealth and our prosperity, we have children going to bed hungry. We have children who don't have the clothes to keep them warm. We have millions of Americans who work full-time every day for minimum wage to support their family and still live in poverty -- it's wrong.

Check also "democrats gone wild" at Atrios' one-line post, Hope is on the way and the "he's a rock star" talk at TalkLeft: Edwards Shines.

ps : Extra browny points to Suburban Guerrilla for nominating Al Sharpton for the post of Kerry's press secretary.

Oh! Yes, Susan. I can imagine.

Not again; another missed BlogHer: It's exploded, you know, the size of this event as well as the size of the community. Perhaps they'll finally stop with the bloody stupid question, "Where are the women bloggers?" They're at BlogHer -- and it's HUGE.... (Blogosphere)

TypePad's template builder rocketh: Six Apart is gradually lifting the NDA for beta testers of TypePad, unveiling a specific interface detail each day this week. Today we're allowed to talk about the template builder, which I do over on my TypePad blog (Linotype), in an entry called Best CSS-design interface yet.... (Products)
Beta testers speak out?: I wish there was some easy way to see if a bunch of TypePad users are commenting on the template builder since that's the feature we're allowed to discuss today? Has anyone built a bunch of links to such entries? I'd like to read other people's opinions. I guess I'll be... (Weblog Concepts)
Best CSS-design interface yet: OK, so now I can talk about TypePad's awesome template builder feature. It's not easy to build a good interactive interface for something as nuanced as design, but given the standardization of weblog layouts and some very neatly executed preview routines and what I assume is DOM-driven interactivity, the TypePad beta... (Miscellany)
On the first day of TypePad...: This week Six Apart will be highlighting a different set of features every day and simultaneously lifting the limited NDA terms for beta testers with regard to those features. By the end of the week we'll be free to talk about anything TypePad. I'll try to post some comments about the... (Typepad)
Atom (pie) wiki weblog dinner in Barea this thursday: Sam Ruby is planning dinner on thursday somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area. Should be an interesting crew. Besides your humble reporter, it looks like RSVPs already include Joe Gregorio, Simon Fell, Marc Canter, Kevin Burton, and possibly David Galbraith.... (Blogosphere)

A Radio Overview: Marc Barrot sent me a link to this well organized overview of Radio's features and functionality. Starting to think about an information architecture for the non-blog parts of this site.... (Weblog Concepts)
Scoreboard Gazing: One of the addictive things about this Radio infrastructure is the referers and rankings pages. I got an endorphin rush yesterday watching my hits rise to second place yesterday as the Scripting News links propogated out across the 'sphere. Today I seem to have settled back to about No. 5 or... Attitude Adjustment: Travelling upstream from my referrer logs I've found a lot of disdain for this Salon experiment in the established blogosphere. Some see it as a money grab by a old-school "fuckedcompany" dotcom. Others see it as a condescending evolution of the tired journalists vs. bloggers meme (which Rosenberg has addressed directly... Still Comparing LiveJournal and Radio Userland: Here's another difference: fee structure. Radio Userland costs money. I assume Salon and UserLand will split the fee for these blogs? Anyone can start a LiveJournal for free as long as they can get a code from an existing LJer. However, it's also possible to pay for LJ (I've done so)... (Weblog Concepts)
Surfacing a Few More Comments: A lot of lively discussion is going on in the comments. Here are some more that deserve front-page status: Comments in response to this post: hello. i've been using radio since february, and i think i can answer some of your questions. i'm sure if i get some of it wrong,...
