Guerrilla Dancing Update

Barlow has asked me to be a "pod" leader (doesn't that word make you feel a bit X-fileish), and bring some Latina sass. I will be reporting for duty on Sunday.

REALITY CHECK TO ALL : Sunday is the march and as of this morning, it will end at Union Sq, which is on 14th Street & Park Avenue. We're expecting a quarter of a million people in this area (I live just a few blocks away). Expect traffic, mass transport and even pedestrian mobility to be extremely limited (especially if the NYPD and National Guard are deployed with impunity).

I live on 14th & First Avenue and past experiences have showed me that to make it from East to West, I may have to go all the way downtown to Soho or even Chinatown to cross over to the West side and then come back up. And may I even recommend packing water & food; unless you want to lose your shirt with a $3 bottle of water (take it from a native).

If mayhem ensues and streets are blocked and you need a Manhattan contact, please email me so you can get my cell phone number. I'm not as comfortable plastering my cell phone number all over the blogosphere as Barlow.

BarlowFriendz: Guerrilla Dancing Update

I am going to try to convene a meeting of all who might want to participate around 8 on the evening of August 29 and a loft on 13th between 9th Avenue and Washington. I don't know the exact address right now, nor have we settled on a time. These will be immediately forthcoming.

In addition, I want to have several meetings, between now and then, of people who are interested in helping with the organizational details. If you would like to be one of these, and live close enough to Manhattan to make a couple of meetings, please either e-mail me or call me on 917/863-2037.

BTW: Blogistanis may want to read the whole post at Barlow's blog. You will be quite interested in all the Hi and Lo technology involved in this demonstration. We're using WiFi, transistor radios and cellular phones for creating a communication network for all the dancers. This is definitely networking at its technological and social best.

See you Sunday for the meeting or Monday for the dance!

I have created a 93 minute documentary detailing the overwhelming evidence of GHW's involvement in the assassination of JFK. I'm trying to get exposure. Any ideas?

thanks

Weblog tools a crutch?: Adrian Holovaty says, in a Zlog interview, I believe in my heart that people should come up with their own publishing methods. Frankly, it's boring to surf the blogosphere and see so many sites using the same, tired weblogging tools. The same basic templates, the same "post a comment" form, the... (Weblog Concepts)

The Legacy of Eve Andersson: Adam Barr takes to task the insider-y side of the blogosphere's hypocracy in this article posted to kuro5hin: Back then you had to be able to write pure HTML to put up a site like that. With modern blogging has come authoring tools that free you from that restriction. So is... (Memes)
Small Business Blogging: Rereading Bricklin's Aug 12 article on small business blogging, I realized that his first example is a pretty close fit for the intangibles I get from doing this blog: One type of small business is the "consultant". This covers a wide range of areas, from engineers, to marketers, to event planners,... (Best Practices)

Business 2.0 Article on Corporate Blogging: Swimming upstream via my referrer log I landed at which led me to his recent article on corporate blogging for Business 2.0: That doesn't mean business blogs should be bland and corporate in tone. In fact, especially for customer-oriented weblogs, it's better if they aren't. Trellix co-founder Dan Bricklin suggests that... (Best Practices)
Shirky on Scaling Pains of the Two-Way Web: Clay Shirky addresses the issues of scale in two-way media: Prior to the internet, the outbound quality of mass media could be ascribed to technical limits — TV had a one-way relationship to its audience because TV was a one-way medium. The growth of two-way media, however, shows that the audience... (Memes)

Deep Roots of Hypertext Journaling: Believe it or not, I'm still sorting out what I've learned about Traction Software, sifting and trying to digest what I've learned.
